"TIA"
(CAC, INTL CH BRUMA DE BENAMAINA
CGC)
2006
SWD Jamboree Super Dog!
Meet
Tia, the Grande Dame of our kennel. Tia was imported from Spain by a friend, and I
first saw her when she was five months old. Her extraordinary
intelligence and working drive were apparent from the first moment I met
her eyes. At
1.5 years, Tia at last joined my household and started to train in
several venues: obedience, agility, water work, obedience and agility.
Tia
is descended from the original La Fantasia line. On a recent trip to Spain, I
met Tia’s
grandfather (Ch. Alamo de los Caetes), mother (Dama de Bolanio), brother
(SE Ch. Boqueron de Benamaina), sister (Bohemia de Benamaina) and sister’s two generations of
progeny. As a breeder, I was very impressed: all were wonderfully open
in character and balanced in conformational type. In conformation, Tia
is very like her relatives. However, in temperament, Tia is very
different. She is quite clearly a ONE-PERSON dog. Sometimes she is so
into me, the rest of the world simply does not exist. Unless, of course,
someone should have some treats!
Tia taught me just how much this breed needs
to have a job: once a frightened and sheltered soul, Tia
blossomed when given the opportunity to work and train. At age 7, she
now persistently demands pets and attention from shop employees. Tia breezed through the AKC Canine Good Citizen test, making her the first SWD CGC
in the country. Just this July, Tia won the title of Super Dog at the
2006 SWD Jamboree--top accumulated points for all events at the show.
Tia easily earned her International Championship
in just three shows, receiving rave reviews for both conformation and
attitude. AKC Best In Show Judge
Virginia Lyne
said of her, "This dog epitomizes everything the breed should be."
I have to agree. In type, Tia is the nicest SWD bitch I have seen in the
United States. She has set a wonderful foundation for the Ariosa line.
