ARIOSA CONCURRIDO LITTER: MEET THE SIRE
AND DAM
|
Concurrido Recoveco ("Zoco")
 |
Bronze Ch. (UCICB,
CAC) Bruma de Benamaina, CGC ("Tia)

|
| ZOWIE!
Zoco is a force to be reckoned with!
Skandinavian Champion, Finnish Monografica winner under Antonio
Garcia Perez, Agility Dog of the Year, top obedience competitor and
blood tracker...what can this dog NOT do? |
International and
National Champion, Super Dog 2006, and swimming/retrieving fool, Tia
has the drive and devotion of ten dogs. That's what drew me to Tia,
and it's paid off in spades. The Ariosa Concurrido litter was Tia's
final, and wow! what a litter it was! |
Zoco's Health Clearances
- Hips: SKL B-B, Finnish equivalent to
an OFA "Good"
-
- Elbows: SKL 0-0 (Normal); not
DNA tested for PRA
Eyes: Normal;
- Thyroid: Normal T4
-
- Tail: Natural long
|
- Tia's Health Clearances
Hips: OFA "Fair"
Elbows: OFA "Normal"
Eyes: CERF "Normal"; OptiGen "Carrier" for PRA.*
Thyroid: OFA "Normal"
Tail: Docked
*Only through DNA testing and careful breeding practices
can we begin to eliminate PRA, a form of hereditary late-onset
blindness, in our small gene pool. This litter was bred previous to
OptiGen's DNA test becoming available, and every effort was made to
select a sire whose family was tested according to their country's
protocol. |

ARIOSA
C --
Born February 14,
2006
BIS CH Concurrido Recoveco
x CH Bruma de Benamaina
At
five weeks, the pups encounter ducks for the first time. Two pups were
especially keen at 5 weeks, and four "turned onto the ducks" at 7 weeks.
Conformation Evaluation
at 8 weeks:
Evaluated by AKC judge
Pat Hastings,
five of the six pups rated above-average show potential pups. One pup was
rated a potential best-in-show dog. (Of course, only time will tell!)
Temperament Testing
at 8 weeks: This was a
delight to watch! Two litters of standard poodles tested just before us, to
the satisfaction of their breeders. That is, until the SWDs hit the floor! I
felt a little badly for those breeders, watching the Spanish excel at every
point. All fetched (although one wanted to chew on the wing), all were
ultra-social, all were well-habitualized to noises and startling sights. It
was all I could do to contain my pride in front of the other breeders.
Please note, this is a rare breed, bred for working
temperaments until only recently. The superb and open temperaments in this litter are not
typical of most, although we will (hopefully) see more temperaments like
these in the future. One of Ariosa kennel's objectives is to retain the
working drive of the breed, but continue to bring out the clown-like
companion-dog temperament we SWD afficionados adore.
